Returning Catholics and CCD Parents are invited to gather in St. John’s Teachers’ Lounge to socialize.

January 17: THE CHALLENGE OF RAISING CATHOLIC CHILDREN IN A SECULAR CULTURE
How can parents help lay the foundation for Catholic adulthood that can withstand the secular culture or that wayward children can return to should they wonder? What is simply out of parents’ hands and is best entrusted to God in prayer?

January 24: “OPEN MIKE” NIGHT – ASK A GUEST PRIEST ANY QUESTION ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH
There will be a guest priest who will answer any question about the Catholic Church and the teachings. Questions can be submitted in writing to [email protected] or asked in person.

February 7: HOW DO WE KNOW THAT WHAT THE CHURCH TEACHES TODAY IS WHAT CHRIST TAUGHT 2000 YEARS AGO?
What is the Magisterium and what is the source of its authority? How can we be confident its teachings are authentic and accurately reflect what Christ taught 2000 years ago?

February 14: THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
On Valentine’s Day, we will focus on the Church’s gift of sacramental marriage. How is a sacramental marriage different from a non-sacramental marriage? Why does the Church hold marriage in such high esteem?

February 21: INFORMAL GATHERING AND FELLOWSHIP

February 28: PREPARATION FOR LENT – ASH WEDNESDAY IS TOMORROW
What are the Church’s recommended practices for Ash Wednesday and Lent? How do they deepen our understanding of the solution to our predicament as fallen sinners who cannot save ourselves? How do they help us enter into the mystery of Christ overcoming evil and restoring humanity to the Father?

March 7: WHERE DOES THE BIBLE FIT IN LIVING THE CATHOLIC FAITH?
What is the role of the Bible in a life of faith for Catholics: What are some practices that help one come to know and love God through reading Scripture?
