Seniors Group

The Seniors' Club is an informal gathering of St. John's parishioners and their guests, age 50 and over. The club meets the third Monday of every month from September through May. These luncheon gatherings begin with Mass at 11:30 AM for those that wish to attend. Mass is followed by a short social period and then a catered lunch in the School cafeteria/hall. After lunch the seniors are treated to a presentation by a guest speaker or musical entertainment. Some of the topics covered in recent months included: the vocation of the laity with Russell Shaw, the work of the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts with Sr. Deirdre, a highly successful outreach program serving inner city boys in the Nation's Capital with the director of that program, and the role and impact of Catholic Education presented by Headmaster Schultz. Entertainment was provided by several groups to include the Chorale of the McLean Women's Club, the St. John's Boys Choir, and Tom Stringer on his guitar.

All seniors of youthful spirit are encouraged to join us and bring their friends. Our events are advertised in the parish bulletin. Simply sign up on the Seniors' Mass and Luncheon sheet which will be posted in the Church vestibule before each gathering and leave $20 (cash or check) marked "seniors" at the Parish Office.
