17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

A few days ago we welcomed Rev. Ryan Alemão to St. John the Beloved. He has taken up residence with us because this Fall he begins studies towards a Psy.D. at Divine Mercy University.

Ryan Alemäo

Father was ordained three years ago for the Archdiocese of Toronto along with his younger brother Favin.

Their parents hail from India. They were living in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, when Father was born. In 2001 the family immigrated to Canada.

The first thoughts of priesthood came to him as a nine year old altar server and his vocation was rekindled at the Newman Centre in college. He holds a B.Sc. in Plant Molecular Biology from University of Toronto. After working for a few years he entered the seminary.

In addition to sharing the joy of being an uncle and the unique blessing of having a brother who is a priest of the same diocese, I also share the tragedy of having lost a parent two years before ordination. His dear mother Alice passed away in 2015.

After ordination Fr. Alemão served for one year as Associate Pastor at Merciful Redeemer Parish in Mississauga, Ontario, and then as Associate Pastor at Blessed Trinity Parish in Toronto from 2018 until this past weekend.

God bless you, Father. We all will be praying for you.

Fr. Christopher J. Pollard

“A new commandment I give to you,
that you love one another;
even as I have loved you that you also love one another.
By this all men will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”

John 13:34-35
